It is a huge honor to be picked to play cricket for your country in international competitions. On the international cricket scene, only a small number of players have been able to play for more than one country.
There are now 15 players who have done this in Tests and ODIs. In Twenty20 Internationals, 14 players have done this. There are now 15 players with icc odi ranking who have played Tests and ODIs for more than one country. Here is a list of the top 10 cricket players who have played for more than one country.
- Eoin Morgan –
Morgan is one of only a few top cricket players who has played for more than one country. He is one of the best players in the game, but no one else is like him.
He played for both Ireland and England at different times during his career. Between 2006 and 2009, Morgan played in a total of 23 one-day internationals (ODIs) for Ireland.
In 2009, he moved to England and played for England in the Twenty20 World Cup that same year. During his career, he played for England in 225 one-day internationals (ODIs), 102 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), and 16 Tests.
- Luke Ronchi –
Ronchi is the only person in the history of cricket to have played at the highest level for both Australia and New Zealand.
Since his first international game with Australia in 2008, he has played in a total of four One-Day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals.
After making his debut with the national squad in 2013, he went on to play for New Zealand in a total of 81 one-day internationals, 29 Twenty20 Internationals, and 4 tests during his career. Ronchi decided in 2017 that he would no longer play cricket for his country.
- Geraint Jones –
Geraint Jones is a one-of-a-kind person in a lot of ways. One is that he has played international cricket for several different countries. He competed for both England and Papua New Guinea when he was representing his country abroad.
Since joining the England cricket team for the first time in 2004, Jones has played in 49 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 34 Tests for the country. After that, he started playing for PNG in 2012. Since then, he has been in two official One-Day Internationals.
- Mark Chapman –
Mark Chapman has been an ambassador for both Hong Kong and New Zealand around the world at different times in his career.
Since his first international match for Hong Kong in 2014, he has played in a total of twenty-one, including two Twenty-one-Day Internationals and two One-Day Internationals.
Since his first game for New Zealand in 2018, he has played in four One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and fourteen Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).
- Dirk Nannes –
Dirk Nannes has competed in international events for both the Netherlands and Australia. He had played in two Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) for the Netherlands before playing in sixteen Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) for Australia in 2009. In 2009, he played in the Twenty20 World Cup for the Netherlands, and in 2010, he played for Australia.
- Kepler Wessels –
Keppler Wessels was the first player in one-day international cricket to do something new. During the time he was competing internationally, he did so for both Australia and South Africa. He played in 54 one-day internationals, 24 tests, and 16 tests for both Australia and South Africa. He played in a total of 48 tests.
- Ed Joyce –
Joyce is one of only a few top-level cricket players who has played for both Ireland and England. This makes him one of the few people in the world to have this rare honor.
Since joining the England cricket team for the first time in 2006, he has played in 17 One-Day Internationals and 2 Twenty Twenty Internationals. In 2006, he played for the first time for the England cricket team.
Since he joined the Irish team in 2011, he has played in a total of 61 one-day internationals, 16 Twenty20 matches, and one test match. Joyce stopped playing cricket on an international level in the year 2018.
- David Wiese –
David Wiese has competed for both South Africa and Namibia in international events throughout his career. He first played for the South African national cricket team in 2013.
From then until 2016, he took part in twenty Twenty Twenty Internationals (T20Is) and six One-Day Internationals (ODIs) for South Africa. Wiese has played for the Namibian national team in a total of sixteen Twenty20 Internationals and five One-Day Internationals (ODIs) since he made his debut in 2021.
(T20Is). He won the game for Namibia in the Twenty20 World Cup in 2021, which helped the team get into the Super 12 group.
- Boyd Rankin –
Boyd Rankin is the only cricketer we know of who has played for one international team, represented another international team, and then go back to play for his first international team after representing the other international team.
During his career, he played for both Ireland and England, along with Eoin Morgan and Ed Joyce. Joyce first played for Ireland on the international stage in 2007, and he continued to do so until 2012.
From 2013 to 2014, he played for England on the international stage. During that time, he took part in one Test match, two Twenty20 Internationals, seven One-Day Internationals, and two One-Day Internationals.
Since he returned to the national team in 2016, he has played in a total of 68 one-day internationals (ODIs), 48 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), and 2 Tests. In the year 2020, Rankin stopped playing cricket on the international level.
- Xavier Marshall –
Xavier Marshall has played cricket for the national teams of both the West Indies and the United States of America on the world stage. He first played for the Windies in 2005 and was a regular member of the team until 2009.
He played in a total of 24 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), 6 Twenty-One-Innings (T20Is), and 7 Tests. The first time he played for the United States national cricket team was in 2019. He has played in 13 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 14 Twenty-Over Games since then (T20s).
